Who we are

Woodside Cottage is run by the Williams family, who are responsible for your details (the "data controller"). Our address is Woodside Cottage, Glen Sannox, Isle of Arran, KA27 8JD, Scotland.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry, we receive:

• your first and last name
• your email address
• the type of enquiry you choose
• your message
• if you fill them in, your arrival and departure dates and the number of guests and dogs

You don't have to send us anything, but we need your name, email address and message to reply.

Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry and take the steps you ask for towards a booking. The law allows this because you have asked us to (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
• To keep a record of our correspondence, so we can pick up where we left off. This is in our legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

We don't use your details for anything else, such as marketing.

Who else handles it

Your enquiry

• EmailJS delivers the form to our inbox. It is based in Singapore and its servers are in the United States.
• Our email provider holds the messages in our inbox.

Visiting the website

These services see your IP address and basic browser details when they deliver part of a page to you. They don't receive your enquiry.

• Cloudflare hosts the site and counts visits without using cookies.
• Cloudinary serves the photos.
• The enquiry form's code, from EmailJS, loads through jsDelivr.
• The weather forecast on our Enquire page comes from MET Norway through our own server, so none of your details are shared with them.
• The video on our Family History page loads from YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) only when you press play.
• The map on our Getting Here page is an embedded Google Map.

Some of these services handle data outside the UK, mainly in the United States. They protect it with safeguards recognised under UK law, such as approved contract terms.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies of its own. YouTube may set cookies once you play the Family History video, and Google may when the Getting Here map loads or you use it.

When you press Send, your browser briefly stores the time, to stop accidental repeat messages. It isn't a cookie and isn't sent to us. It's only used for ten seconds, and it's deleted the next time you open our Enquire page.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for up to two years after our last contact, unless you book with us.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the details we hold about you
• correct anything that is wrong
• delete your details
• stop using them, or limit how we use them
• send them to you in a form you can pass on to someone else

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd be grateful for the chance to put things right first.
